Assistant Director of Communications

Ryan Whitehurst serves as the Vice Director of Communications for Massé World, where he advances the organization’s mission to end discrimination and stigma surrounding differences through advocacy, education, community engagement, and global outreach. A community builder, advocate, public servant, and graduate of George Mason University with a degree in Government and International Politics and minors in Economics and Legal Studies, Ryan has dedicated his career to transforming compassion into meaningful, people-centered impact.

Ryan’s professional experience spans local government, higher education, nonprofit leadership, and philanthropy. As an Events Representative with the City of Fairfax local government, he managed logistics and documentation for high-visibility public events, ensuring every interaction reflected professionalism, inclusion, and service to the community. As Chairman of George Mason University’s Residential Adjudication Board, he guided students through sensitive processes with discretion, fairness, and integrity.

Through Tau Kappa Epsilon, Ryan led philanthropic initiatives supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, organizing volunteer efforts, fundraising campaigns, and community engagement initiatives that raised awareness and support for children and families facing life-threatening illnesses. That same dedication to service and human dignity has defined his journey at Massé World, where he progressed from intern to a leadership role overseeing communications, donor engagement, campaign visibility, and outreach initiatives that strengthen the organization’s global impact.

Ryan is deeply committed to building communities where every individual feels valued, represented, and empowered. His passion for advocacy is rooted in the belief that visibility, compassion, and human connection can transform lives and create a more inclusive world for people of all backgrounds and experiences.
