THE CHALLENGE
WHEN SUNLIGHT BECOMES A HEALTH CONCERN
For people living with albinism, protection from the sun is essential. Reduced or absent melanin increases vulnerability to sunburn, skin damage, and skin cancer. Access to practical protection can make everyday activities safer.
Walking to school, going to work, and participating in community life should not mean choosing between health and opportunity. Massé World believes everyone deserves both.

OUR RESPONSE
ONE UMBRELLA. PRACTICAL PROTECTION.
At a Massé World community event in Cameroon, umbrellas were distributed to individuals with
albinism to help reduce direct exposure to sunlight. The initiative put a useful resource into
people’s hands while reinforcing a message of care and inclusion.

An umbrella provides shade, but it is not a replacement for sunscreen, protective clothing, or medical care. Together, these measures can support a more complete approach to sun safety.
SMALL ACTIONS CAN SUPPORT BIGGER POSSIBILITIES.

BEYOND THE UMBRELLA
PROTECTION SHOULD NEVER BE A PRIVILEGE.

Sun protection is one part of a larger commitment. Massé World works to advance health education, dignity, inclusion, and access to practical resources for people living with albinism and vitiligo.
Help extend the impact: support sun-protection initiatives, explore our global programs, or become a
community partner.
